People That Chew Loudly

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm being really intolerant. Maybe I need to just calm down. Or maybe people need to learn some manners and eat with etiquette!

For as long as I can remember, people eating loudly triggered some kind of angry response in me. When I was younger, I'd have no problem telling people to 'shut the f*ck up' ad quite often others would back me up however now I'm at an age where that kind of reaction would cause lots of problems. Now I have to politely ignore their disgusting noises.

I personally do not understand it. Is it really that difficult to eat with your mouth closed and not smack your lips like your life depends on it?

I've encountered many types of loud eaters and I've categorised them; there's the "Wet sounders", the "Lip Smackers" and the "I Eat Like A Starved Dog" people.

The Wet Sounders are those who generally do eat with their mouth closed but Jesus Christ they must have so much saliva up in there! You can literally hear them swish the food about in the sea of spit. It's gross and makes me want to chunder just at the thought of it; usually they are unaware of the ungodly sounds they are creating.

The Lip Smackers are either incredibly rude or are extremely un-self-aware. They smack away either not caring at how gross they are behaving or they are desensitised to their own vomit-inducing sound. The worst situation to be in a Smack radius has to be when they are eating something spicy; the laboured breathing due to the heat combined with their inability to stop shoving food in their mouth means you get a constant and overwhelming smack sound. It's so ANNOYING!

Finally, the Starved Dogs... What can I say? They eat as though the chicken's going to come back to life and run away. Munching at everything as fast and as loud as they can is something they can list as expert on their CV. They are a rare breed but they boast they're the only people on Earth who can make eating jelly extremely loud. It disgusts me and I don't understand how people live like this.

I've done a little research and if you are like me, it seems we have something called Misophonia!

I really hope at least some people understand what I'm talking about. Share your stories in the comments below!
